The Latest: {Pretty in Pink}

I had originally worn this outfit with heels early on in the day Sunday. But since my style has been evolving, for these photos I popped on my sneakers for a more boy meets girl vibe that is quite fitting of my personal style as of late.

The Latest: {Comeback}

Can't believe I haven't been able to blog in over a month! Life has been so busy but fashion is always on my mind.  The print of this dress definitely caught me off guard.  On the hanger the checkerboard print was a little loud but the dress on shows that the fit is really flattering.  I finished off the look with some awesome ankle strap pumps, a pair of shoes that have been on my wish list for a very long time.

The Latest: {Same Look, Different Day}

Just last week I kind of felt a little wardrobe uninspired.  It's not the biggest problem in the world but through that little rough patch I was able to reevaluate what made my style mine.  I guess if I were to define it in this very moment, I'd say I am more inclined to wear things that are menswear inspired  with clean lines and not too many frills.  My taste has always been pretty simple but I've ventured into more color which is always unexpected and fun. And I guess I kinda love this sort of combination I'm wearing in this post and previously here and here (hence the distinct post title).

Current Cravings: {Tee it Up}

In conjunction to yesterday's post, I decided to choose some tees that fit the description that I talked about.  Tops that still have a comfy feel that include unique details, adding a little something special to the casual item.

The Latest: {To a Tee}

Yes, I just had to take a photo of the look without the jacket cause I love the faux leather sleeves that add an edgy contrast to the simple gray tee.  Currently I'm all about comfy tees with cool patterns or unique details that separate them from just an average cotton blend t-shirt.  I'm loving the fact that they have evolved in the style realm as being a base for a chic outfit or downplaying a fancier piece.  The versatility of a tee has become the epitome of fashion moving forward.  To think that previously these pieces were just thrown on willy-nilly without really any care in the world.  The new selection of styles excites me that even in a time crunch I can still look put together.

The Latest: {Some Things Borrowed}

I would like to describe this look as menswear-inspired.  The cardigan, chambray and oxfords are definitely pieces, of course in feminine flattering silhouettes, that have a 'borrowed from the boys' feel and I'm definitely digging it.

The Latest: {Berries in the Spring}

I decided to wear a deep berry lip color yesterday although spring was supposed to be present and has supposedly been here for a while.  The weather seemed grey though not too gloomy so the darker lip was chosen to complete the overall look of laid-back glamour, if that concept even really makes any sense.  I have also been so inspired by this pin minus the leopard details.  What are some looks you've pinned and have tried to replicate or have yet to flesh out the inspiration in real life? I'd love to know!

The Latest: {Now's the Time}

It's time for dresses, a love of mine last year and I am excited to wear them more often this time around. What is your favorite warm weather item to wear? Would love to know!

Retro-Spect: {The 1920s}

The Great Gatsby opened in theaters this week and I thought, what great way to give a celebratory nod, than reminisce upon the fashion of this era as it inspires looks today and what it actually looked like in the 1920s.

Women's trends in this era consisted mostly of drop-waisted sheath-like dress with pleated or slitted skirts adorned with embellishments as well.  But this type of style actually resonated with the younger generation at the time as it was not as conservative comparably to the older women that came before them.  These dresses presented much more of a freedom for ladies to enjoy themselves at dances and parties.  Elsa Schiaparelli was a major designer in this period who focused on this type of silhouette comparing it to the stylings of the Greeks and Romans, inspired by tunics and the goddesses.

Popular actresses who fore fronted fashion trends in this decade consisted of Mary Pickford who starred in The Love Light and My Best GirlMarion Davies featured in Beauty's Worth and The Patsy and Louise Brooks as seen in Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl.

Even now fashion is still inspired by this bygone era, integrating the classic silhouette into modern day collections with throwback embellishments and swinging skirts.

Red Carpet Highlights: {Met Gala 2013}

The Met Gala was deemed with a punk inspired theme this year and there was an open door, for the most adventurous individuals, to try to incorporate this 90s trend into elegant red carpet wear.  These were some of my favorite looks, though not entirely on the deeper end of the punk theme spectrum, I fancied the classic looks with the tiniest tinge of edge comparably to the more out of the box ensembles.

The Latest: {Out and About}

Still loving this tee, pretty much one of my favorites.  The simple graphic makes it both fun and unique.

{Styling Tip}
Wear a plain tee with a flirty feminine skirt to create a laid-back chic combo.

The Latest: {Glorious Sunshine}

Oh how I adore the sunshine so inviting, happy and pleasing to me.  With those words it would seem to lead into some poetic prose but I will stop at that and make it an ad-lib so anyone can fill in the words as they please.  But yes, the sun, I love it very much! :)

The Latest: {Disguised}

Camo has become one of my favorite prints, aside from the classic stripe.  My guy friend on the other hand can't stand that this print, of all prints, is in mainstream fashion.  I won't bother to explain that he really has no power in stopping the trend as much as he dislikes it.  But between he and I it is quite amusing that he can be so bothered by a print. ;)

The Latest: {Comfy}

One of those days where a preferable look was one that didn't look done up at all.  My casual style seems to be switching into a sort of relaxed vibe and I'm enjoying the comfort and ease of it all at the moment.

The Latest: {Tribal}

Lately I have been seeing this type of tribal detailing in a number of places.  I'm just glad I was able to score these pants on sale.  But honestly the look of these pants were inspired by a pin like this and I admit I'm on a Pinterest kick this week, sometimes that's where inspiration is drawn from I suppose.

I love denim on denim.  The pairing always seems so crisp and fresh, adding that classic red lip doesn't hurt either.
